Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn battle each other in a deep seeded feud, weekly on WWE Monday Night RAW and Smackdown. This feud goes all the way back to 2003 when then Kevin Steen and El Generico would enter the independent wrestling scene. Both would meet in IWS long before their epic battles in WWE.

2003

In the beginning Generico and Steen would lock up with fellow Canadian, Pierre Carl Ouellet. This would usually be in International Wrestling Syndicate or Elite Wrestling Revolution. You can watch a really good three way between these three here on Dailymotion. Interesting to note that Generico is wearing an Octogon Jr. mask.

Triple Threat Match

IWS Blood, Sweat & Beers - Le Skratch, Laval, Quebec, Canada - 2003

They would trade victories back and forth as the year progressed. However, animosity would really build between Generico and Steen. Animosity that would last for a very long time.

2004

In 2004 these two would branch out and add a little spice to their mix. They would face others like WonderFred, Sexxxy Eddy and eXceSs 69. But would meet periodically, really toning their feud and tweaking their styles. The two would butt heads in July of 2004 for Steen's IWS Heavyweight Title at IWS V.

Their feud would go on the road taking them to even more promotions. Most notably would be their little stop in Combat Zone Wrestling.

Four Way Dance

CZW High Stakes 2 - New Alhambra Sports & Entertainment Center, Philadelphia, PA - 2004

They would be soldiers during a series of matches that took place over a year between promotions like Pro Wrestling Guerilla, CZW and IWS. They were not only promoting their home promotion, but also promoting themselves. After 2004, you will begin to see a lot of Steen/Generico matches much like you would see Punk/Cabana matches. In November of 2004, Steen and Generico would bring their three way dance material to Los Angeles to perform at Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG). You can see that match here at ok.ru.

Finally, Steen and Generico would team together in respect to IWS. To take on the superpowers of PWG, Excalibur and Super Dragon at a CZW show.
